Vintage Nyc Bonds And Certificates
A limited number of original redeemed vintage bonds and stock certificates dating from the 1920s to the 1980s, ranging in size from 8 ¾X 12 ¼ to 17 X 20 are priced between $120.00 and $250.00. Certificates were issued by the City to fund school construction, transit projects, improvements to the water supply, and other municipal purposes. Each one is signed by a Mayor. The collection includes bonds signed by James Walker, Fiorello La Guardia, John Lindsay, and Abraham Beame.

Certificate Request Without the Cause of Death
The following relations to the deceased can also request a death certificate, but not the cause of death medical report:
- Great grandchild and great-great grandchild
If you are not listed above as an entitled party, you must document your right to get a death certificate.

To order this type of certificate, complete the Death Certificate Application, leaving box #20 blank.
All Medical Examiner death certificates include the cause of death. If the cause or manner is “Undetermined” or “Pending further study,” call the Medical Examiners office at 212-447-2030. If the cause of death shows “pending,” you can exchange the death certificate within 90 days of the original issue date without paying the $15 fee.

Only the following relations to the deceased can request both a death certificate and the confidential cause of death medical report:
- Informant listed on the certificate
- Person in charge of disposition

New And Expectant Parents
Parents receive a free birth certificate for newborns about four weeks after birth. Your baby’s birth certificate will be based on information you provide at the hospital when you deliver. It will be automatically mailed to the parents listed on the certificate.
At the hospital, you will be asked to fill out a Mother/Parent Worksheet . You can complete this ahead of time and bring it to the hospital or give it to your midwife. The worksheet collects important information and helps your baby get a Social Security Card.

Deaths From 1914 Thru 1956
After 1914, copies of all death records were filed with the New York Department of Health. Copies can be obtained either through the village, town, or city clerk where the death took place or by contacting the Department of Health.

Ignore The Genealogists At Your Peril
When you read our Petition, youll see quotations from many notable people and venerable societies within the genealogical community, who took the time to give testimony and provide public comments to the Department of Health, carefully documenting all the reasons why these new rules were a very bad idea but who were then totally ignored.
In October 2017, sixty-two genealogists even showed up at a Department of Health public meeting to protest the proposal of these new rules. This was more people than had shown up to any New York City Department of Health meeting on any subject in several years! Every person who gave testimony spoke out against the proposal. Not even one member of the general public submitted a comment in favor of the new stricter rules.

But the Department of Health didnt listen to the thousands of public comments that poured in, unanimously in opposition to their proposed rule change.
