Preparing For Your Course
Q: How do I sign up for a class?
A: You can search for a class or local Training Center here. If the TC has listed its classes in our system, you will be able to register for that class online. You may also have to call the TC or visit the TCs website to inquire about costs and availability, and to register and pay for the class. This is because AHA TCs are independent businesses that have entered into an agreement with the AHA to provide CPR and first aid training using our current courses and products.
Q: What should I wear to class?
A: Our CPR and first aid courses involve hands-on practice sessions, so wear something comfortable. If you have long hair, it is best to wear it back.
Q: How do I get the student materials I need ?
A: First, ask your Training Center . The TC may offer the course materials to you as part of the overall course. The TC may also direct you to purchase training materials through the AHA directly.
Q: How do I get the student materials I need ?
A: The AHA publishes CPR, first aid and advanced cardiovascular care training materials in several different languages. Purchase international student materials at ShopCPR.Heart.org.
Q: May I use a copied manual/workbook?
A: No. Each student must have his or her own current and appropriate manual or workbook readily available for use before, during and after the course.
Q: May I translate your materials?
Q: I am visually impaired. Am I able to obtain course materials in Braille?

What Is Cpr Certified
CPR certification is given at the completion of a course teaching the lifesaving skill of cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Is CPR certification the same as BLS certification?
There are two types of CPR certification. There is a basic certification for lay responders and an advanced CPR certification for healthcare providers.
The AHA calls the course for non medical people, Heartsaver CPR/AED and the Red Cross calls it just CPR/AED. This class covers CPR and AED use. You will want to make sure to get trained for the ages you need. Some classes will cover adults, children, and infants and some may only cover adults.
For healthcare providers, both the AHA and Red Cross call the training BLS which stands for Basic Life Support. BLS is the highest level of CPR certification. Anyone working in the medical field, such as nurses, physicians, and techs will need BLS certification. If a medical provider takes the non-medical CPR course it will not be accepted when they go to renew their license.
How To Do A Cpr Certification Lookup
The Find My CPR Certification process for looking up your CPR or BLS certification will depend on the organization where you got your certification in the first place. Your training school may have an online dashboard that allows you to look up your certification or you may have to call the school.
If you got your certification through CPR Certified, we have automatic notifications set up that will warn you when youre getting close to your expiration date. Many online and even in-person schools have online notification programs. If you got your CPR certification through work, your workplace may also have an automatic notification system.
The Red Cross Find My Certificate page allows you to look up your certificate using your email address, name and date, or certificate ID number. The AHA has a similar Find My CPR Certification page that allows you to look up your e-card.
While courses based on the AHA and Red Cross curriculums generally expire after a two-year period, some professional requirements may be shorter than this. Its essential to check with your employer or possibly your professional certification board to make sure you understand your CPR certification time frame.

Why Use An Aha Ecard
eCards are more secure than printed cards. A three-point verification by the Training Center Coordinator , Instructor and the student, is required to issue and claim eCards. eCard information is populated electronically by the TCC or Instructor and can only be altered by the TCC or AHA Customer Service by using AHAs My CardsTM. eCards can be easily verified by employers at www.heart.org/cpr/mycards to prove issuance by a valid TC and Instructor aligned with that TC.
Why Is It Important To Renew Your Cpr Certification
Many medical professionals and healthcare providers like nurses and EMTs are required to maintain AHA BLS certification . So, if youre working in the medical field, your employer will likely require that you are certified. For laypeople whose jobs do not require CPR certification, it can be a little more difficult to keep track of your status. However, its still essential to take renewal classes and maintain your certification. Youve put in the work, so dont let your CPR certification expire!
Regardless of whether its regulated by your employer, its always a good idea to refresh your knowledge and brush up on your life-saving skills. A renewal class will clear out any mental cobwebs and keep your CPR expertise sharp.

How To Get Certification Card From Cpr Instructor
If you recently took a CPR course and didnt receive your card, you will want to contact your instructor. The AHA and Red Cross are not able to issue certifications for instructors. Training Centers have up to 20 business days to send students their certification card. If you are needing your certification sooner, you will want to make sure that is possible from your instructor before taking a class with them.
After waiting up to 20 days, if you havent received your certification, you should contact your instructor and make sure they have the correct information for you. It is possible that your email was typed wrong which could be a reason to not receive the certification card via email.

How To Enroll In Cpr Recertification Classes
While every organization will have a slightly different format, most CPR recertification training programs arent as long as the original training program. You can register through your original training program, or you can use a different training program to earn your CPR recertification. There is no requirement to use the same school that you did originally.
One exception to this may be workplace requirements, however. Some employers that require CPR certification may send you a list of organizations or schools they will accept for recertification. Our recertification program is based on ACA curricula and guidelines, and is accepted by employers in all industriesincluding in healthcarethroughout all 50 states.

This is the new certification cards that are issued to those who successfully pass a CPR/AED/First Aid or BLS/ACLS/PALS class. eCards are valid course completion cards and can be presented to employers as proof of successful completion of an AHA course. eCards are available only for provider-level courses in the United States. Paper cards are no longer available.
Can I Download A Copy Of My Certificate
If you have an account with MyRC, you will be able to download a PDF format of your First Aid and CPR/AED certificate simply by logging in, clicking on My Profile, then clicking on My Certifications. From there, you will be able to download a copy of your certificate which you may print for your own convenience at any time. This is beneficial if you have lost your certificate or need to provide multiple copies to an employer or school program.
Unfortunately, students are unable to download their certifications on their Canadian Red Cross account currently. We hope this issue will be resolved soon! Please contact the Canadian Red Cross directly.

How Do I Get A New Cpr Certification
If your certification is expired or unable to be found, you will need to take a new CPR certification class. You can find a local instructor near you on Class Eagle Health & Safety Instructor Directory. On this directory, you can select if you have a preference from American Heart Association classes or Red Cross. Both CPR class brands offer full in person CPR classes or online blended classes. Online blended classes require that you complete the course online and do skills practice in person with an instructor. Because CPR is a physical skill, it requires the hands on practice. Furthermore, studies show without the hands on practice people do not feel confident in their ability to help in case of emergency.
There Are Many Different Ways To Take Cpr Classes:
- In-person classes combine lecture with hands-on skills sessions. They’re a good choice for those who learn best in traditional classroom settings.
- Blended learning is a mix of online learning and in-person instruction.
- Online CPR classes are a convenient option for those who want to learn on their own schedule and at a location of their choosing. However, since they are taken entirely online, these courses do not allow you to demonstrate skill proficiency to a certified instructor, and therefore do not meet requirements for OSHA certification.
