Who Should Take The Pals Course
This course is for healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the management of respiratory and or cardiovascular emergencies and cardiopulmonary arrest in pediatric patients. Included but not limited to personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care, and critical care units such as physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and paramedics.
Cpr/aed For The Layperson
Heartsaver courses are designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for job, regulatory , or other requirements. These courses can also be taken by anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting. For many Heartsaver courses, students receive a course completion card that is valid for 2 years. This course will teach you to recognize cardiac arrest, get emergency care on the way quickly, and help a person until more advanced care arrives to take over.

- Ask a coworker or friend who took the class with you. The Training Centers information can be found on the back of his or her card.
- If your school or employer made the arrangements for the class, he or she should have the Training Centers contact information.
- Do you have a student manual/workbook from the class? It may have a label on it that includes the Training Centers name.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support
AHA 2020 Advanced Cardiac Life Support Guidelines, or ACLS, was created by the American Heat Association. ACLS is a classroom course that awards a two year ACLS certification for those who work in critical areas of the hospital such as ICU, Telemetry, ER, CCU and outpatient surgery areas. Most hospitals require doctors, nurses anesthesiologists and charge nurses to have this certification. This course teaches advanced Life Support measures such as drug administration for arrhythmias, cardioversion, defibrillation, CPR, and advanced airways, as well as heart rhythm recognition.
ACLS is an advanced course that highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care, and immediate post-cardio-arrest care. It also covers airway management and related pharmacology. In this course, skills are taught using learning stations for practicing essential skills and simulated clinical scenarios that encourage active participation.

What To Do Before Class:
In order to be prepared to learn how to effectively learn and treat these emergencies, it is necessary for students to have a solid understanding of ECG rhythm interpretation and the Pharmacology used in the ACLS algorithms.
Once registered, CPR Nashville will mail you your ACLS manual. Become familiar with the algorithms in the ACLS manual. This will provide you with a foundation to build on when you come to class.
Finally, please complete the ACLS Certification pretest and bring it to class. The score on this test does not matter. The pretest simply gives our American Heart Association instructors an idea of what the students knowledge base is in regard to an ACLS class. This allow our instructors to cater the education directly towards where each student needs the most help.
